Dressing Your Little Ones for Winter: Handmade Warmth and Style

As the caretaker of one or more children, I'm sure that keeping them warm and comfy during winter is a top priority - but that doesn't have to mean major compromises!  They can still look absolutely adorable!

When it comes to children's winter clothing, especially handmade pieces created with love, you get the perfect combination of quality, warmth, and unique style!

Handmade clothing offers something special that mass-produced clothing simply cannot.  Every stitch is thoughtful and made with care, fabrics are carefully selected for comfort and durability, and the fit is designed with REAL kids in mind.  And, your little one is wearing something that is truly one-of-a-kind!

Since kids can be so active, layering works great for them!  In this way, their winter wardrobe remains both warm and flexible!  It makes it so much easier for them to shed layers when they are playing hard, and bundle up when they cool down!

For winter clothing, I like to use knits that are mostly cotton but also contain a bit of Lycra, for stretch; warm and cozy flannel; corduroy; and polyester that is stand alone - as in fleece, or, combined with some kind of stretch - like spandex.

Winter clothing for kids needs to be functional; think, easy to dress!  That is why I gravitate toward stretchy knits, and snaps rather than buttons for closures.  Zippers are always a favorite, and I will use them too, whenever the item warrants a zipper instead of snaps!
